Ah August. The dreaded “dead” month, when a chunk of galleries throw their hands in the air, lock the doors, and head to the shore, grasping at relaxation before the hubbub of September. Meanwhile, back in the city, art and artists trudge on. I’m pleasantly surprised to see new venues on the list that I know show work but are terrible about the while social networking / updating their website thing. Good thing the artists that they are showing are on top of their game. The listings:

Personal friend of AiB Kelly A. Kozma is also showing her new paintings at 149 N 3rd Street, which is the former (?) site of Cereal Art, and now, who knows? All I have is an address. Opening reception Friday, August 6th, 5-8PM.
Also, South Street is quietly doing that artist space in empty storefronts thing again, although I’ve only seen two pop-up spots, one for Dumpster Divers at 732 South St. and . . . another one. More investigation is needed.
If you have a show up this month, even if we missed the opening, let me know. AiB wants to promote art outside of the gallery scene! Hit me up at admin@artinbars.com
